Aretha Franklin "Lady Soul" - June 2018 Listyners' Choice

1968 was a great year, but we can't play all the albums celebrating their 50th anniversaries. We couldn't decide so we left it up to you. Our first "Listyners' Choice" show will be excellent, as you chose Aretha Franklin's "Lady Soul"!

Released in January 1968, it was her second R&B chart-topper and included some of her biggest hit singles, "Chain of Fools" (#2 Pop), and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" (#8 Pop), and "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone" (#5 Pop). Lady Soul peaked at #1, #2 and #3 on Billboard's Black Albums, Pop Albums and Jazz Albums charts respectively. Lady Soul is number 84 on Rolling Stone′s list "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time", was rated the 29th best album of the 1960s by Pitchfork, and is #41 on VH1's list of greatest albums of all time.
