Faithful Listyners, there is a new biopic, "Rocket Man" in theaters, about the life and music of Reginald Kenneth Dwight (better known as Sir Elton Hercules John CBE). So, even though it isn't an anniversary, we felt we have been ignoring Sir Elton for too long.
July will bring us "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", the seventh studio album by Elton John, released in 1973, and widely regarded as his best album. The entire album is spectacular and it happens to contain the hits "Candle in the Wind", "Bennie and the Jets", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" plus "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" and "Harmony". It has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2003 (the album itself was). Rolling Stone placed it at number 91 on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It has made numerous other best of lists and publications, including the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
We can promise a fantastic afternoon of music, fun, maybe a few tears, and more than a bit of magic.
