Whether or not you go to see the Boss the night before, you should plan to join us in celebrating where it all began 50 years ago, Bruce Springsteen's first album, "Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J."
All Listyn KC shows benefit the Center For Recorded Music, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization bringing to life a new world-class cultural center and music education facility in Kansas City.
At the time of its release "Greetings" had little commercial success but some positive critical reviews. Once Bruce began to take off, and after "Born in the U.S.A." people began to take notice and seek out his first album. It even charted in the U.K. in 1985, 12 years after it was released. "Greetings" combines the mid-1960s folk rock sound with accessible melodies, elaborate arrangements, and the lyrics of a poet for the people. All the elements…
