The Audio Note™ ANKORU II Mono power amplifiers are Pure Class A Parallel Singled Ended valve mono amplifiers, using a pair of the highly regarded 211 triode valves per chassis, producing a level of performance that is radically superior to the vast majority of current designs. They use a similar circuit design and topology to the legendary Audio Note (UK) GAKU-ON amplifiers. However, where the GAKU-ON power amplifiers use silver wherever possible, such as for all transformer windings, the ANKORU/II instead use copper. They have been specifically engineered for sonic performance rather than technical specifications. Pure Class A operation Zero Negative Feedback Single Ended Output Stage Valve Rectification Directly Heated Triode operation Highest materials and component quality Technical Specifications: INPUT IMPEDANCE 600 Ohm, XLR /Balanced Line Level MAXIMUM OUTPUT 45 Watts (approx.) per channel into 4 or 8 Ohm loads CHANNEL BALANCE +/- 0.3dB TUBE COMPLEMENT 4 x 5R4WGB (2 per chassis) 4 x 211 (2 per chassis) 2 x 6V6GT (1 per chassis)
The Audio Note™ (UK) M5 Pre Amplifier has been specifically engineered for sonic performance rather than technical specifications. Pure Class A operation Zero negative feedback Single Ended circuit topology Valve rectification Highest materials and component quality It is well known that the accurate reproduction of music, not just sound, requires the purity of the incoming signal to be preserved. It is therefore not difficult to conclude that, in order to achieve this goal and to retain the musicality of the original performance, the complexity of the circuitry itself must be kept to a minimum. In response to this, the M5 Pre Amplifier uses a single-ended, zero feedback circuit topology. This is simply the most linear design possible, demanding pure Class A valve operation and removing the need for a phase splitter, which introduces unnecessary crossover distortion. In contrast to the majority of the audio industry, we design our circuits with the aim of minimising non-harmonic and time base anomalies, rather than producing vanishingly small harmonic or low intermodulation distortion measurements. These non-harmonic amplitude and time base distortions have a highly perceptible and adverse affect on the signal waveform, and it is far more important to address these factors than participate in the increasingly irrelevant numbers game that chases „perfect measured response‟. As a result, the M5 was designed for maximum linearity and minimum transient distortion, and avoids the need for detrimental „corrective‟ measures, such as inherently error-prone feedback loops. Rather than using separate controls for volume and balance, the M5 Line is equipped with a dedicated Audio Note™ (UK) stepped attenuator for each channel. This not only brings the enormous improvements in sound quality expected from the now legendary Audio Note™ (UK) stepped attenuators, but also provides a level of channel balance accuracy that is impossible to achieve with conventional volume and balance potentiometers. The M5 Pre Amplifier features an ECC82 and 7044 line stage, and uses a 6X5 valve rectified power supply based on the M10‟s Galahad PSU. This power supply also incorporates an ECL82 for voltage regulation and a 5651 as a voltage stabilizer. Audio Note™ (UK) Copper wiring, tantalum resistors, SILMIC filter capacitors and Audio Note™ (UK) copper foil signal capacitors are used throughout the circuit, along with in-house designed and manufactured, custom Audio Note™ (UK) output transformers which feature a HiB c-cores and copper windings. The M5 Line also has a correctly designed and implemented balanced output circuit. Our M5 includes an exceptionally fine Moving Magnet phonostage which uses three GE 6072a / 12AY7 valves and powered by their own dedicated 6X5 valve rectified power supply. Audio Note™ TT-2 Deluxe. All Audio Note™ turntables are all designed and built according to a core set of four fundamental insights into what delivers musicality. We have settled on these design principles after many years of experimentation and experience. They can be found on every Audio Note™ turntable from the TT-One right through to the TT Three Reference in which they achieve their ultimate expression. A suspended chassis attenuates vibration energy from the speakers and the room to deliver purity of reproduction. A low mass platter absorbs much less energy from the cartridge in the groove of the record without deadening the sound. A vibration free high torque AC drive system delivers constant platter speed even when the grooves contain strong modulations. The transmission of vibration in our turntables and arms is managed through the use of materials with different resonances and mass, so that energy is led away from the cartridge, where it does harm to the sound. The TT-Two is built to give an even more generous measure of musical enjoyment, particularly when paired with an Audio Note™ arm to create a combination able to punch well above its price point. It has a high quality aluminium sub-chassis with optimised three-point suspension geometry. Two opposed AC motors deliver twice the torque to the low-mass acrylic platter and also have the benefit of further stabilising the suspension. The robust and long-life bearing features a sintered and polished shaft in a brass tube with a hardened thrust plate and a precision ground steel ball. Technical Specifications: MOTOR 24 pole precision, high torque motor mounted on an anti-vibration assembly. Audio Note™ (UK) ARM-Three/II We are extremely pleased to announce that the new Version II models have exceeded even our high standards. Ladies and Gentlemen, we give you the Audio Note™ (UK) ARM-Three/II. Completely redesigned We needed an arm that could be accommodated by not only our own range of turntables, but also by the many designs that were cut for the classic single hole 'Rega' mounting that has dominated the industry for so many years. Yet at the same time, we needed something that would truly push the boundaries of performance, design and quality, not only from a build perspective but also from the vitally important sound quality perspective also. This would require a complete rethink of many of the design criteria, and a level of engineering precision and quality that is rarely seen in the world of HiFi. Precision Engineering All of the new arms are manufactured in a state of the art machining facility located in Austria. We don't use parts manufactured by any other company for our new arms; every single piece is custom designed and manufactured by us and for us. This was the only way we could guarantee to get the results we were aiming for. Many people thought we were crazy to contemplate such an undertaking, especially considering the relatively modest prices we wanted to offer the new arms for, but such things have never worried us in the past, so why should they now! It took us over a year of painstaking prototyping, testing, redesigning and re-prototyping to finalise the design... and the results truly astonishing. Tapered Armtube The new arms all share the same construction, based around an armtube that is machined from a single billet of high-grade aluminium. It is tapered both internally and externally, which reduces overall mass and also increases stiffness. The structural rigidity of this design allows the new arms to work with almost any design of cartridge, regardless of weight or compliance. From the lightest tracking moving magnet right up to our own IO models, the new arms allow the cartridge to track superbly, minimising noise and maximising music. Bias adjustment is achieved via the classic 'falling weight' method. We found this to be by far the most easy to adjust and reliable method of bias adjustment. The vertical and horizontal bearings are not the usual 'ball racer' type. Instead we use a rarely seen 'captured unipivot' arrangement, which provides significantly superior performance to any conventional arrangement. As discussed above, we chose to stay with the mounting system used on our earlier generation of arms. But for the new models, we also introduced a method of adjusting the arm height via a threaded collar and locking nut, allowing the stylus rake angle to be precisely adjusted. Silver inside and out The Arm Three/II uses our own high purity Silver Litz wire inside the armtube, and our own AN-Vx silver cable from the arm base to the phono plugs. Technical Specifications: LENGTH 9 inch WIRING 99.99% pure Silver Litz CABLE AN-Vx Silver Interconnect, AN GP RCA Plugs
The Audio Note™ IQ III features a rigid yet lightweight body made from Pocon, which is equipped with integral threaded inserts for easy installation in the tonearm head-shell. This mounting system greatly improves mechanical coupling between the cartridge body and head-shell in comparison to the traditional nut & bolt fixing. The internal coils are made from extremely fine copper wire, and the IQ III uses the same cantilever material and diamond found in the legendary Audio Note IO I moving coil cartridge. Made from titanium tube rather than aluminium, the cantilever is unique, and in combination with the Audio Note Type 1 stylus, offers a level of performance that was often though impossible to achieve with a Moving Magnet design. The complete stylus assembly is removable, making replacement or upgrade a very simple and cost effective process. In fact, all of the IQ stylus assemblies are interchangeable, meaning that you could start with an IQ-I, and eventually replace the stylus assembly with the vastly superior version used in the IQ-III. It has been designed to be used with a Moving Magnet compatible phono stage, with an input impedance of 47K Ohms. Total capacitance in parallel (including arm lead and amplifier capacitance) should not exceed 200pF. If other values of load resistance and capacitance are used, the frequency response of the cartridge may depart from the specified values. Technical Specifications: LOAD RESISTANCE 47K Ohms LOAD CAPACITANCE 150 - 200 pF INTERNAL INDUCTANCE 570mH INTERNAL RESISTANCE 660 Ohms FREQUENCY RESPONSE 20Hz to 20KHz, +/- 2dB WEIGHT 6.3g FIXING CENTRES 12.7mm / 0.5" TRACKING FORCE / WEIGHT 1.5g - 2.5g (1.75g nominal) CHANNEL BALANCE 2dB @ 1KHz CHANNEL SEPARATION 25dB @ 1KHz SENSITIVITY 6.5mV +/- 1.5dB (1KHz @ 5cm/sec) STATIC COMPLIANCE (N lateral) 24mm / (N vertical) 16mm EQUIVALENT TIP MASS 0.45mg VERTICAL TRACKING ANGLE 24 degrees
